Why it’s important to be diverse with your food choices

Diversity = many foods delivering many nutrients

Diversity = thousands of phytochemicals harmoniously working together

Diversity = antioxidants combating the detrimental health effects of oxidative stress 

Diversity = a healthy functioning gut and diverse populations of gut microorganisms

Diversity = prevention against and lower risk of allergies, intolerances, asthma symptoms

Diversity = lowered inflammation and risk of chronic health conditions, like cardiovascular disease

Diversity = creating continual demand for a wide variety of food and crops, supporting our local farmers, and more stable ecological environment.


Ways in which you can introduce diversity

  • Sign up for that cooking class or webinar you’ve wanted to do – online cooking classes are occurring all the time!

  • Meal plan and add one new food item or meal each week

  • Make something from home that you usually purchase ready-made

  • Virtual work lunches – encourage your team to add one new ingredient to their lunch

  • Virtual dinner party – everyone makes a new dish

  • Grow herbs, vegetables or fruit in your backyard
